On Sunday afternoon, I was invited by Peter, an Australian Pediatrician, to go to Gibbs Farm, a nearby resort, for swimming and lunch along with his sister, Sarah who runs a NGO that supports, provides housing and surgery for disabled children. She has lived in Tanzania for 22 years! Also joining us were Astrid 1, Oliver 4, Peter’s children( his wife ,Amanda, is attending an African Emergency Medicine conference in Botswana, I met her before she left – thye have volunteered in Africa for 3 years) and Alyssa, from New York , who has been volunteering here at FAME for 2 years.
Gibbs Farm was so very lush and lovely and the pool so refreshing. We had it to ourselves as it is not the “high season”
After swimming, we had a 3 course lunch overlooking the lush hills with lots of lively conversation and laughing.
So, happy and full, we headed home in the, felt to me, treacherous, shortcut. Peter managing the RangeRover over crazy terrain.
