On Sunday, I went with my housemate Karen an infection control nurse, Gary, a pediatrician, who is in the house next store and Joram, Outpatient Nurse Supervisor who drove us to African Galleria, about a half hour drive from FAME.
African Galleria is a place where you can buy all kinds of African made arts and crafts, from inexpensive to “Gallery Quality”. It is truly an amazing place.
All kinds of artwork all over the place.
We started with a lovely lunch at the cafe. Large meals with drinks came to 222,000 shillings, which is 83.47$ for 4!… and this is a pricey place. I had Lamb Curry with special rice. I was full the rest of the day!
Next, we went to shop. The “high end” stuff was truly amazing!
I forgot to get a picture of the jewelry section which has all kinds of gems, rubys, emeralds , but most of all tanzanite. It is found only in Tanzania near Kilimanjaro and is said to be dwindling. It is called the “purple diamond” and I bought some earrings,,, lets just say after the FAME discount and some bargaining they were still very pricey… an heirloom for sure
Then we viewed the museum quality wood carvings. Way beyond affordability and packing space!
Stocked up with gifts to enjoy and bring home for family and friends, we left the Galleria happy and full, ready for a nap.

You may be in Tanzania but we have had 43 monkeys on the ‘lam’ here in SC from an area facility-30 have been returned “home”!
Waiting to espy if we have visitors here w/our deer, alligators, snakes, fox, raccoons, coyotes and occasional bobcat.
