Farewell FAME

Friday November 15th was my last day at FAME. The 3 weeks seemed both short and long all at the same time.

I saw so many interesting things. The Tanzanian doctors, nurses and staff were all so generous with their time and teaching.

I feel like I made many friends while I was here, both Tanzanian, Siana, Jorum, Christopher, Dr Annie, Dr Asenga and Jacob, Saidia and more. I also meet several volunteer expatriates, including some long term volunteers( 1-2 years), Peter and Amanda and their 2 kids, Oliver and Astrid from Australia, Alyssa from New York. And some shorter term volunteers, Karen from Texas, David from California and Gary a pediatrician from Minneapolis who kindly lent me his excellent binoculars for my Safari in the Serengeti.

Hallway at FAME between clinics and inPatient
Jacob the Nutritionist giving Diabetes Education
Samwell the Head Chef and Crew
Saidi, superb volunteer Coordinator & Me
Happy Hour at Annie Birch’s House. Annie owns Aurora Africa the company that organized my Safari

So many, many good people doing good things that I was lucky enough to experience!

Nothing compares with being elsewhere in the world and living it through the people. Wish you could bring back some of that lovely warmth and humor, it is needed after that terrible election result!
